What is a tooth extraction?

A Surgical Extraction is performed when a tooth is compromised, severely decayed, or impacted (commonly seen in wisdom teeth) and cannot be removed via simple elevation. Our approach prioritizes minimally invasive techniques to preserve the surrounding alveolar bone and soft tissue, ensuring faster healing and optimal outcomes for future restorative options like dental implants.

Understanding the Procedure

A tooth extraction involves the clinical removal of a tooth from its socket in the maxillofacial bone. Unlike simple extractions, surgical cases may require a small incision in the gingiva or the removal of overlying bone to safely access the tooth structure.

Clinical Protocols for Your Safety

To ensure a seamless experience, we adhere to rigorous pre- and post-operative standards:

Pre-Operative Care

We conduct a comprehensive radiographic assessment (X-rays or CT scans) to map nerve proximity. If advanced sedation is selected, patients must fast for at least 6 hours prior to the procedure and arrange for a designated driver.

During Your Appointment

Our surgical team utilizes local anesthesia and optional IV sedation to eliminate discomfort. We focus on precision to minimize trauma to the surgical site.

Post-Operative Recovery

Following the visit, maintaining the intact blood clot in the socket is critical to prevent "dry socket" (alveolar osteitis). We provide detailed instructions on gauze management, cold compress application, and a soft-food diet to facilitate secondary intention healing.

Our team proudly works with a diverse network of PPO dental insurance carriers.

Please Note: To maintain our high standard of specialized care and personalized materials, we are not currently participating in HMO or DMO insurance plans.
