Bone Grafting is a specialized regenerative procedure designed to augment or strengthen the jawbone. It is an essential foundation for patients with insufficient bone volume due to atrophy, trauma, or long-term tooth loss. By providing a solid scaffold, we create the necessary stability for successful dental implants and prevent further facial skeletal collapse.

The procedure involves placing processed bone mineral (allograft, xenograft, or synthetic material) into the area of bone deficiency. This graft acts as a matrix, stimulating the body’s natural osteoblasts to produce new, healthy bone tissue through a process known as guided bone regeneration (GBR).
A 3D radiographic evaluation is required to determine the precise volume of bone needed. We discuss the source of the grafting material and clinical expectations with the patient.
We utilize minimally invasive flap surgery to access the site. The graft is placed and often secured with a protective collagen membrane to prevent soft tissue ingrowth.
Avoid applying pressure to the grafted site. It takes several months for the graft to fully integrate and calcify. Specific instructions on managing swelling and preventing infection are provided to ensure a predictable outcome.
